This series includes the non-alloy aluminium grades with a purity of 99% or higher. Non-alloy aluminium is often used when the mechanical properties are not important. These grades are characterised by high electrical conductivity, excellent corrosion resistance and very good formability. However, the material has a low strength. The strength can be increased by cold forming and the associated work hardening effect. Because this material is often produced in a continuous casting process, anodising is not recommended as it can result in a 'tiger stripes' appearance.
