This is a martensitic stainless steel grade. With a high carbon content (approximately 0.90%) and good strength, moderate corrosion resistance, and high hardness due to its high carbon content. Suitable for applications requiring a combination of excellent wear resistance and moderate corrosion resistance. 440B stainless steel is often used in marine, food and medical industries. Typical applications include valve components, knives, bearings, surgical tools and cutlery.
