Ferritic stainless steel. Due to the addition of sulphur, which forms manganese sulphides together with manganese, machinability compared to grade 1.4016 is clearly improved. The material is ideal for automatic lathe processing but exhibits reduced formability and weldability due to sulphur addition. Due to the presence of manganese sulphides in the structure, this grade has slightly lower resistance, especially to selective attack compared to grade 1.4016. It is therefore only used when no special requirements for corrosion resistance are required. Applications: screws, nuts, shafts, fittings, etc. For household applications and non-corrosive environments.
