This engineering steel is available as normalised rolled steel. Normalised rolling results in a reduced oxide layer (mill scale) and even greater notch toughness. This hot-rolled Quarto sheet offers greater resistance to brittle fracture and has a higher strength than the commonly used S235JR grade. This makes lighter construction possible. This steel is reasonably machinable and reasonably formable in both grades.
