This steel bar is the most widely used non-alloy grade of engineering steel. It offers reasonable machinability, reasonably good formability and good weldability. A grade of steel is available which lends itself well to thermal galvanising, resulting in a smooth and glossy zinc layer. If excellent formability is required (e.g. for bending), this must be specified at the time of order.
