Alloy 36, ook wel Invar® genoemd, is een legering met 36% nikkel. Deze legering zorgt ervoor dat de afmetingen nagenoeg constant blijven binnen het bereik van normale atmosferische temperaturen, het heeft ook een laag uitzettingscoëfficiënt van cryogene temperaturen tot ongeveer 260°C. Alloy 36 behoudt ook goed zijn sterkte en taaiheid bij cryogene temperaturen. De legering wordt gebruikt voor meettoestellen, thermostaat staven en voor het transporteren van vloeibare gassen.
