Alloy 718 is een precipitatie hardende nikkel-chroomlegering met significante hoeveelheden ijzer, niobium en molybdeen samen met kleinere hoeveelheden aluminium en titanium. De legering combineert de weerstand tegen corrosie en hoge sterkte met een uitstekende lasbaarheid. Na het lassen is er minimaal kans op scheurvorming. Alloy 718 is bestand tegen kruip bij temperaturen tot 700°C. Het materiaal is verkrijgbaar in oplos gegloeide uitvoering (AMS 5662) en geharde uitvoering (AMS 5663). Alloy 718 wordt veelal gebruikt in gasturbines, raketmotoren, ruimtevaartuigen, kernreactoren en pompen.
Uitstekende mechanische eigenschappen bij lage temperaturen.
